This teapot takes the form of the classic Lifahat (笠帽壺) shape — a slightly flared lid that recalls the silhouette of a traditional straw hat. Its body is round and poised, with a short spout and upright handle, balancing elegance with functionality.
Made from fine aged purple clay, this teapot offers good porosity and heat retention, making it ideal for teas with deep and layered textures.
The base features a “China Yixing” square seal, specifically the “Double-Horizontal Zhong (鑰匙中)” variant — named by collectors for the distinct extra horizontal strokes in the character 中. This mark is recognized in Taiwanese collector circles as one of the clear signs of the early Yixing factory lineage.
Inside the lid is the impressed mark “Xiao Hua (小華)”, belonging to Wu Xiaohua (吳小華), a highly regarded craftsperson from the Yixing Factory One.
The teapot is engraved with the poetic phrase:
"Qing Xiang Yi Ren (清香宜人)" (Fragrance and Clarity Delight the Heart)
This line, along with the soft incised decoration on the reverse, evokes the feeling of being surrounded by gentle tea aroma and mental tranquility, showing a subtle ode to the aesthetic of inner peace and flavor harmony.
Recommended for brewing medium to heavily roasted oolongs, such as Dong Ding Oolong or the Traditional style heavy roasted Tie Guan Yin.
