Yixing Factory One Standard Shuiping Teapot, Hongtu Clay (late 1980s, six-cup size), 115ml
This standard shuiping (水平壺) teapot was produced by Yixing Factory One in the late 1980s. It is the larger six-cup size, offering the same classic proportions and practical construction as the smaller four-cup version, but with a more generous capacity suited to shared tea sessions.
The pot is made from hongtu (紅土), or red clay, with the warm orange-red tone typical of many later Factory One utility wares. This type of red clay tends to preserve aroma well while giving the liquor a slightly softer and rounder presentation, making it a versatile choice for oolongs, yancha, red tea, and puer.
Its shape follows the familiar Factory One standard shuiping profile: a rounded body, domed lid, simple loop handle, and straightforward spout. The larger six-cup format gives the leaves more room to expand and makes the pot especially convenient when brewing for two or more drinkers.
The base carries the familiar “Zhongguo Yixing” (中國宜興) seal associated with Factory One production from this period.
Like the smaller version, this is above all a practical and dependable Factory One red-clay teapot. It offers the classic shuiping form, a useful everyday size, and the straightforward brewing character that makes late Factory One pots such satisfying tools for regular tea drinking.
